cofferdams, new piers, new spans— built under an active railway.
Project Type
Railway Bridges
Location
Edmonton, AB
Surespan extended two rail bridges in Edmonton to accommodate the widening of Yellowhead Trail (Highway 16), completing technically demanding work adjacent to and below active rail lines with only short, defined work blocks available for activities requiring train stoppages. The scope included extensive temporary sheet-pile shoring, driven piles, tie-backs and ground anchors, construction of new abutments and permanent retaining walls, upgrades to the existing piers, and installation of new permanent bridge spans.
