Surespan engineered and retrofitted its portable bridge inventory to supply temporary traffic deck modules over three cut-and-cover intersections on Ottawa’s Confederation Line LRT extension, spanning configurations from 12×9m up to 15×37m. Rented over a two-year construction window from 2020 to 2022, the modular decks could be temporarily removed and reinstated to give crews frequent access to the tunnel corridor below, all while keeping surface traffic flowing. This $3.775M contract highlights Surespan’s ability to support major transit infrastructure with engineered, long-duration bridge rental solutions in a demanding urban environment.
