GALLOPING GOOSE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

Project Type

Pedestrian Bridges

Location

Colwood, BC

Surespan completed the Design-Build delivery of a pedestrian and cyclist overpass carrying the Galloping Goose Regional Trail over the four-lane Island Highway. The approximately 80 m long curved steel girder bridge features a 42 m main span, two approximately 19 m approach spans, and a 4 m clear pathway. The north and south approaches provide approximately 216 m of combined pathway and incorporate MSE retaining walls and reinforced soil slopes. Within the constrained urban corridor, Surespan also completed extensive utility and civil work, including approximately 51 m of new 750 mm sanitary sewer, manhole modifications, and overhead utility relocations.
