A CURVED STEEL SPAN OVER THE TRANS-CANADA HIGHWAY — BUILT WITHOUT SLOWING THE HIGHWAY DOWN.
Project Type
Pedestrian Bridges
Location
North Vancouver, BC
Surespan constructed the Casano-Loutet Pedestrian and Bicycle Overpass over the Trans-Canada Highway, connecting Loutet Park to Casano Drive in North Vancouver. The bridge is a three-span, 78 m curved continuous steel box girder structure with an architectural cast-in-place deck, drilled shaft foundations, and MSE retaining walls. Work included bulk excavation, embankment construction, lighting, and landscaping, all coordinated within a constrained urban corridor alongside live highway traffic, archaeological requirements, and First Nations involvement.
