DOUGLAS FIR ACCESS TRAIL PLATFORM

Project Type

Pile Driving

Location

Calgary, AB

For a slope-stabilization project along Calgary’s Douglas Fir Trail, Surespan constructed a 160 m temporary access platform supported by approximately 110 steel H-piles, structural steel cap beams and stringers, and timber crane mats. Crews predrilled through boulder layers and carried out WEAP analysis and PDA testing to adapt the pile installation approach to variable subsurface conditions. The work was completed within a narrow corridor beside an active rail line, existing retaining structures, and underground fibre-optic infrastructure, with Surespan adapting its piling methods and equipment to suit restricted access and winter conditions.
