the first cable replacement of its kind— done ahead of schedule.
Project Type
Bridge Rehabilitation
Location
Fort Providence, NT
Surespan replaced a damaged 100 mm diameter lock-coil stay cable and replaced the stress adjustment bars on the remaining 23 stay cables of the Deh Cho Bridge. The work required each cable to be de-tensioned and re-tensioned using specialized jacking frames, marking the first time this activity had been performed anywhere in the world. Surespan also installed temporary access platforms, replaced architectural lighting, repaired bridge railings, and assisted with repairs to a modular expansion joint. All work was completed in mid-winter subarctic conditions while maintaining live traffic on the bridge. The project was completed ahead of schedule.
