Nova Scotia’s Largest Wind Farm Installation
Surespan led the installation of Nova Scotia’s largest wind farm, a 102 million watt project by Acciona Energy. The initiative was a collaboration between Oxford Frozen Foods, Minas Basin Pulp and Power, and Nova Scotia Power. Construction began during one of Canada’s harshest winters, facing record snowfalls, hurricane-force winds, and freezing temperatures.
This project marked the debut of “The Bean,” Surespan’s second LG 1750 crane, which arrived in Halifax directly from its German assembly line. Despite extreme weather, we successfully installed 34 turbines, pushing through our expertise in large-scale wind projects and renewable energy infrastructure.
We are proud of our combined efforts for the project as it ensures long term success for the infrastructure of this beautiful province.
