Architectural Precast Cladding for SFU Science Building
In 2017-2018, Surespan Structures partnered with Bird Construction to deliver 330 white architectural precast panels for Simon Fraser University’s Science Building in Surrey, BC. Designed by Revery Architecture, the building’s cladding mimics the intricate look of a circuit board, blending traditional and modern design elements to the facade.
To achieve the brilliant white finish, Surespan sourced white cement powder from Mexico and white sand from Ontario. Panels featured specialty liners to create a unique wave pattern, enhancing the building’s sleek, contemporary facade.
Surespan Construction handled the installation using multiple cranes to rotate and precisely hang the panels, serving as an iconic piece of art for the campus.
