Turbine Installation at Sault Ste. Marie Wind Park
Surespan Project Management teamed up with Wanzek Construction for their first Canadian wind energy project at Sault Ste. Marie Wind Park in Ontario. We initially provided local labour skilled in the terrain and turbine specifications. During the first phase, involving 12 turbines, our role grew as we tackled challenging conditions.
To improve efficiency, we mobilized our specialized LG 1750 crane to replace a crawler crane. This upgrade increased the maximum load capacity and streamlined operations. After the successful completion of the first phase, Wanzek awarded us an extended lump sum contract for the second phase, which included 24 turbines.
Despite Northern Ontario’s tough terrain and harsh weather, our team installed 36 GE 1.78MW turbines on 100-meter towers. Our expertise in project management, construction solutions, and quality control ensured the project finished on time and on budget.
This large-scale wind project was just a start. Our community to green energy reinforces our commitment to our environment.
